Ingredients:
For the Cake:
2 ½ cups (300g) all-purpose flour
1 ½ cups (300g) granulated sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tsp salt
2 large eggs (room temperature)
1 ½ cups (360ml) vegetable oil
1 cup (240ml) buttermilk
2 tbsp red food coloring
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp white vinegar

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
8 oz (225g) cream cheese (softened)
½ cup (115g) unsalted butter (softened)
4 cups (480g) powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract

Tools You’ll Need:
Bowls for mixing (for even blending)
Round 9-inch cake pans (two)
Electric mixer (standing or handheld)

Time Needed:
20 minutes for preparation
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.

Directions:
Prepare the pans and oven:
Set the oven temperature to 175°C (350°F).  Line cake pans with parchment paper and grease them.

Equally distribute the batter among the pans.  A toothpick should come out clean after 25 to 30 minutes of baking.  After 10 minutes of cooling in the pans, move them to a rack.

To make the frosting:
Beat butter and cream cheese until light and fluffy.  Mix in vanilla and powdered sugar until smooth.

Assemble and decorate:
By stacking the cooled layers.  Before slicing, let it cool for 30 minutes.
