Authentic Chicken Shawarma Recipe: A Flavorful Middle Eastern Delight

A favourite Middle Eastern meal, chicken shawarma has become well-known throughout the world for its flavourful and fragrant spices.  This recipe will show you how to make a real chicken shawarma at home, which is great to serve over rice or wrap in pita bread.  For optimal results, you can effortlessly slice your chicken thinly with the correct equipment, such as the premium knives from Sharp Blades.  Let's embark on this delectable culinary journey!

Ingredients (Serves 4)
For the Marinade:
500g boneless chicken thighs (thinly sliced)
3 tbsp olive oil
3 garlic cloves (minced)
1 tbsp paprika
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper

For Serving:
4 pita breads
1 cup Greek yogurt or tahini sauce
1 cup shredded lettuce
1 sliced tomato
1 sliced cucumber
Pickles (optional)
Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Required Utensils:

Time Spent Preparing:

Directions
Get the marinade ready:
Olive oil, minced garlic, paprika, cumin, turmeric, coriander powder, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper should all be combined in a mixing dish.  Stir thoroughly.

Place the marinated chicken slices on the pan using tongs.  Cook until golden brown and cooked through, 4–5 minutes per side.

Assemble the toppings: 
Preheat the pita bread in the oven or toaster while the chicken cooks.
Prepare the lettuce and cut the cucumbers and tomatoes into slices.

To assemble the Shawarma:
Cover the pita bread with a layer of tahini sauce or Greek yoghurt.
Add the pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and cooked chicken slices.
Tightly roll the pita and garnish with fresh parsley.

Serve and Savour:
Savour your delicious chicken shawarma right away, with extra sauce on the side!
